Salmon is the common name for several species of ray-finned fish in the family Salmonidae. Other fish in the same family include trout, char, grayling and whitefish. Salmon are native to tributaries of the North Atlantic and Pacific Ocean.

Usage and cultural significance

Salmon is a popular food in restaurants or home in Australia. Classified as an oily fish, salmon is high in protein, omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin D, and is therefore considered to be healthy for all of us t to consume.
