AT HOME COCKTAIL MASTER CLASS ONLINE

Dinner party? Tough Wednesday at work? Stuck in another lockdown? Whatever the situation, nine times out of ten the answer is a great cocktail. This cocktail pack and recipes are going to walk you through two delicious drinks to make summer just a little bit brighter. Inside the pack, we have recipes for a Bramble, which is a refreshing crushed ice gin cocktail with some fun and fruity presentation. After that, we have the Gold Rush, a brilliant drink for whiskey sour lovers with less fuss. Excited? Us too! So let's do some of the groundwork and then get on with the fun stuff.

Your guests will be shipped individual cocktail kits (minimum 10 kits) and we will share a zoom link with you to then be hosted in a 45-minute interactive session with our cocktail expert.  You'll be taken through how to create the cocktails, using similar ingredients for both drinks but giving you totally different outcomes. SHOPPING LIST

  • Four juicy looking lemons
  • Honey
  • White caster sugar
  • Mint
  • Blackberries (optional)

FIRST STEPS

  1. Complete your shopping list.
  2. Double check you have everything!
  3. Place cocktail glassware in the freezer
  4. Fill a large ziplock bag with ice cubes, cover in a tea towel and place on a chopping board, crush ice with a rolling pin or tenderizer. Keep crushed ice in the bag and place in the freezer.
  5. Juice some lemons. One lemon has roughly enough juice for one cocktail so you'll need to juice accordingly. Make sure to strain out the pulp.
  6. Make sugar syrup and honey water.

SUGAR SYRUP

Ingredients

  • 250g white sugar
  • 250g water

Method

  1. Place a container on kitchen scales and tare.
  2. Add 250g of white sugar and 250g of room temperature tap water.
  3. Stir to combine and dissolve, it might take a little while so take this time to read over a recipe or ponder your existence in the world.
  4. Once sugar is dissolved and syrup is clear, use your funnel to bottle your syrup.

HONEY WATER

Ingredients

  • 300g honey
  • 100g water

Method

  1. Place a container on kitchen scales and tare.
  2. Add 300g of honey and 100g of tap water. Stir to combine the two until a smooth consistency. Use the funnel and bottle.

Got everything done? Cleaned up your space and everything is looking fresh? Great! Let's make some drinks!

BRAMBLE

Ingredients

  • 45ml London Dry Gin
  • 20ml Fresh Lemon Juice
  • 20ml Sugar Syrup
  • 15ml Blackberry Liqueur

Method

  1. Prepare your garnishes! Pick the best looking mint sprig you can find, a yummy looking blackberry, and measure out 15ml of blackberry liqueur and put to the side.
  2. Add all ingredients into a tall frozen glass (EXCEPT THE BLACKBERRY LIQUEUR), carefully making sure all measurements are accurate.
  3. Add some crushed ice to the glass so that the ice is an inch above the liquid.
  4. Churn the cocktail with a spoon and then 'shimmy' the glass to make the liquid rise and cool.
  5. Add more crushed ice, a straw, and garnish with a mint sprig and a fresh blackberry.
  6. When serving the cocktail pour the 15m of blackberry liqueur over the top. Done!

GOLD RUSH

Ingredients

  • 50ml Bourbon
  • 20ml Fresh Lemon Juice
  • 15ml Honey Water

Method

  1. Prepare your garnishes! Cut a thin slice of lemon peel and carefully remove as much of the white pith from the underside as you can. Set the lemon peel aside.
  2. Add all ingredients to the large cocktail tin being diligent on those measurements. Fill the tin up almost to the top with ice and seal with the small tin.
  3. SHAKE! Open the cocktail tins and strain the cocktail into a frozen cocktail glass.
  4. Express the oils of the prepared lemon peel and place on the cocktail. Done!

HOT TIPS, COLD DRINKS:

  • In cocktails booze isn't the most important ingredient, ice is. Make sure you have some great looking ice cubes and plenty of them.
  • Just like cooking, taste everything as you go. Too sweet for you? Add a touch of lemon juice. Too sour? Add a touch of sugar. Tailor the drink to you.
  • Making cocktails is fun, drinking them is even better, cleaning a big bar mess is the worst. Have a dedicated spot to clean up your jugs, tins, and spills as you go so you can focus on the best part of making cocktails.
  • Shaking a cocktail has no specific technique but some good things to think about; visualize the ice hitting the top and bottom of the tin, not the sides.
  • You're shaking a drink for 3 reasons: combine your ingredients, make the drink ice cold and textured, and dilute the drink to make it tasty.
  • Shake towards the floor, not forwards or to the sides, if you let go of the cocktail it's better for it to hit the floor then the microwave.
  • Shake it with love and shake it with passion!
  • Opening cocktail tins is about knowing where to hit, not how hard to hit.
  • This is a fun affair, not a serious one! Relax your shoulders, keep your chin up, and remember to smile.
