Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to the hotel. You will be offered a welcome drink and the tour briefings following by a street food dinner. Check into the hotel for refreshments. The rest of the day is at your leisure. 



After breakfast you will take an in-depth tour of the most interesting sites in Hanoi. The tour includes the visits to Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum - Ba Dinh Square – The old residence of Ho Chi Minh – One Pillar Pagoda – Ethnological Museum – Temple of Literature – time for breaks and street food or drinks (at your own expenses) – Ngoc Son Temple – take an in-depth walking tour of Hanoi Old Quarter for an overview of the local life and businesses before your return to the hotel. The rest of the day is yours.



Early rise – breakfast - take a drive on a countryside road through the paddy fields to Ha Long Bay, one of New Seven Natural Wonders. Upon arrival at the harbour, you will board a traditional boat – set sail through the limestone islands – have a nice seafood lunch – take a sampan ride to visit a traditional fishing village – return to the boat and attend a short cooking class – time to rest on the upper deck at sunset – enjoy a delicious dinner. The rest of the day is your leisure. Why not play cards, try your luck at fishing, watch movies or simply enjoy some drinks and chat with your friends at the bar on board.



Up early – top deck – Tai Chi - light breakfast – disembark for an easy exploration of the cave close by – return to your boat - check out your cabins – enjoy a nice brunch while sailing back to land. On the way back (if your time permits), visit Ba Vang Pagoda – time for breaks and food or drinks (at your own expenses) – onward travel to the airport for your short flight to Hue – Pick up and transfer to the hotel. The rest of the day is yours.



After breakfast you will take an in-depth tour of this historical city. Today’s experiences include: Cau Ngoi Village – the countryside market - The Hue Old Citadel, which contains the Imperial City and the Purple Forbidden City – time for breaks and food or drinks (at your own expenses) – taking a leisurely boat trip on Perfume River to visit Thien Mu Pagoda – transfer by road to visit Minh Mang Tomb – return to the hotel. The rest of the day is at your leisure.



Breakfast – transfer by road along the coastal road toward Hoi An ancient town - head up the Hai Van with a stop at the top of the Pass to explore old French bunkers and take in a parting view of Da Nang and the bay – onward travel downhill and then stop at Nam O Bridge & Red Beach II (where the US Marines made their famous amphibious landing 1965) – time for rest and drinks ( at your own expenses) – visit Cham Sculpture Museum – proceed to Hoi An ancient town with a visit to Marble Mountain – check in the hotel. The rest of the day is yours.



Breakfast – pick up from the hotel and take an in-depth walking tour of the most interesting sites in Hoi An, which include the Japanese Covered Bridge, Chinese Assembly Halls, Tan Ky Ancient House, and The vibrant market – time for rest and drinks or food (at your own expenses)- Board a traditional boat for a leisurely ride along Thu Bon River – stop off at Thanh Ha Ceramic village – wander around to learn about this craft village – return to the boat and proceed to Kim Bong Carpentry village – leave your boat and stroll around for an insight into this furniture making village – float along the river towards Cua Dai before transfer back to your hotel.



After breakfast, you will be met and driven along the countryside road towards My Son Sanctuary. Upon arrival, transfer by electric car to the sites – spend your time wandering around the sites for more information & photographic opportunities - enjoy a traditional show performed by Cham people - visit Cham Sculpture Museum – return to Hoi An ancient town – time for a break and drinks or food (at your own expenses) – wander around the local market for an overview of the most popular ingredients used in daily Vietnamese meals – take a leisurely boat ride along the Hoi An river to a mini cooking school – learn more about the cooking school’s herbs and vegetable garden – attend a cooking class – take part in making some typical local dishes – get to eat what you have made – return to your hotel. You are free until your transfer to the airport for your afternoon flight to Saigon. Upon your arrival at the airport, you will be met and transferred to the hotel, where you spend the night.



After breakfast you will take an in-depth tour of the most interesting sites in Saigon City. Today’s experiences include: Cu Chi Tunnels – return to Saigon – time for breaks and food or drinks (at your own expenses) – The War Remnant Museum – Reunification Hall – Notre Dame Cathedral and The Central Post office nearby – Ben Thanh Market. Afterwards return to the hotel. The rest of the day is at your leisure.



Today you will take a drive on the countryside road towards Ben Tre. Upon arrival, you will: visit a brick factory – board a traditional style boat for a scenic cruise along the Mekong River – make some stops at local houses along the way – hope on bikes for a leisurely ride through the countryside – lunch in a traditional Mekong village restaurant - board a motorboat to explore more of the Mekong Delta. Afterwards return to the car for your transfer to Cai Be. The rest of the day is yours!



Up early - breakfast - take a sampan ride on the river to visit the Cai Be floating market - pay visits to some families for an overview of the fascinating local cottage industries – transfer back to Saigon - time for breaks and food or drinks (at your own expenses) – onward travel to the airport for your departure flight.



There will be some free time for you to relax or explore more of the city by yourself until transfer to the airport for your departure flight.

If you are travelling with your children it is your responsibility to ensure that they are fit and healthy so they can participate in your chosen itinerary and that they are supervised at all times during the tour. Jewel Tours is not responsible for any failure to participate in any activity due to your child's health or for the supervision of children on the tour.


Rates for Children (applicable for ONE child only per booking)

Children 12 years of age are charged as an adult (able to share room with adults in 1 extra bed or stay in single room subject charge)



Upon agreement with the tour program and costs, we will provide you with a deposit invoice before we process the booking. The deposit invoice that has to be paid is 20% of the total tour cost, which is your guarantee of a provisional reservation. The balance of the total cost of the tour is required no later than 60 days prior to travel date.

If a booking is made within the 60 days prior to departure you are required to make the full payment at the time of the booking confirmation. 

Any group with more than 8 persons is subject to special conditions.

Because it is an international tour so we reserve the right to change tour prices if the exchange rate with AUD into USD is more than 3% unless you pay us in full at the time of booking to keep the lowest price.

For other services you might require such as like hotel booking, visa application and transportation, require a full payment by the time of booking to keep the cheapest price.


2.1 Payment by money transfer

Our payment gateway accepts Visa, Mastercard and Amex. Fees are: 
Domestic Australian cards: 1.95% 
International cards: 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction.

2.2.1 Payment by Third party
Upon request the payment can be made by a third party. The payer will have to fill in the authorization form and an approval letter for confirmation of the payment. Both documents have the be signed by the payer.


2.3 Pay by PayPal 

We do not offer you the option of paying by PayPal. Any payment made through PayPal will be subject to higher costs. 



All amendment requests must be received in writing. We will make the changes subject to availability and have the right to charge an amendment fee of $100 per person to cover our admin costs. In addition to the fee we charge, any alteration, whether a change to an existing booking or a change to another tour or departure date, will also be subject to payment by you of any of the costs imposed by any of the suppliers providing the component parts of the tour. If the trip to which you change to is more expensive than the one you originally booked, a further deposit will also have to be paid. 



4.1 Cancellation by you

You, or any member of your party, may cancel your tour at any time providing that the cancellation is made in writing. Notice of cancellation will be effective upon receipt of your written communication. You must receive a notice that Otao Kitchen has already received your cancellation request. We recommend that you use a recorded delivery as we start to incur costs from the time the trip is confirmed, we will retain your deposit and in addition we will apply cancellation charges as shown below with indicated days prior to the arrival date:

60 days: loss of deposit             

45 – 59 days: charge of 25% of the total tour cost     
30 – 44 days: charge 50% of the total tour cost    
Less than 30 days: charge 100% total tour cost 

* This cancellation policy is subject to change if there is any special note on the booking confirmation that has been approved and confirmed.

* If canceling a part of the group from the original group size, we have the right to change the quote based on the amended group size.

4.2 Cancellation by us

We reserve the right to cancel the agreement between us for any reason prior to your holiday, whereupon we will refund any payment that you have paid us in full. However after a full payment has been made, we will only cancel the agreement if circumstances beyond our control make it unavoidable.

In the unlikely event that such circumstances should arise, we will contact you immediately and offer you the choice of an alternative holiday or tour of equivalent quality, or a full refund of the payment. No additional compensation will be paid over and above the total sum received from you.

If we are forced to cancel your holiday after departure, we will, wherever possible, make suitable alternative arrangements. If we are unable to make such alternative arrangements, or you reject these for a good reason then we will return you to your point of departure and refund you for any unused services, if appropriate.

We will require you to have travel insurance to cover other costs you might incur when traveling with us.

4.3 Refund

If your trip or your services are booked, confirmed and you already made payment to us, then we will process the refund to you only if you send us full documents required at the time you make the cancellation. We will complete your refund documents within 30 days from the date we received your request for refund. If you omit any of the required documents, Otao Kitchen have the right to reject your refund request.



Compensation however will not be payable if we are forced to cancel for reasons of force majeure. Circumstances amounting to "force majeure" include any event which we or the supplier of the service(s) in question could not even with all due care, foresee or forestall such as (by way of example and not by way of limitation) war, threat of war, riot, civil strife, industrial dispute, terrorist activity, natural or nuclear disaster, fire, acts of God, adverse weather conditions, and all similar events mentioned in clause 8.1. If as a consequence of force majeure, Jewel Tours is obliged to curtail, alter, extend or cancel the tour, you shall not be at liberty to maintain a claim for compensation or otherwise for any loss arising as a consequence of said curtailment, alteration, extension or cancellation of the tour.


5.1 Happenings beyond our control

"Happenings beyond our control” refer to everything that we cannot possibly prevent or control ourselves, such as (by way of example and not by way of limitation) natural disasters, adverse weather conditions, fire or other destruction of any vessel, craft or vehicle to be used in connection with a holiday, destruction or damage to holiday accommodation, riots, acts of war, civil commotion, exercise of legislative or government action, municipal or military or other authority, strikes, industrial action, requisition of equipment, mechanical breakdown, shortage of fuel, insolvency or default of any carrier or service connected with the tour. 


These Booking Terms and Conditions and any agreement to which they apply are governed in all respects by Australian Law. By accepting these Booking Terms and Conditions we both agree that any dispute, claims or other matters which arises between us will be exclusively be dealt with by the jurisdiction of the courts of Victoria, Australia.



If you have any reason to make a complaint during your holiday or tour, you must inform our local representative or your tour guide, and the relevant supplier of the service immediately. If you are not happy with their action or response at the time of complaint, please write us as soo as you can or within 30 days of your return home.  We will acknowledge your written notification within 48 hours and aim to provide a full response within 10 working days.  Our aim is to resolve any complaints you may have, but we cannot enforce the matter will be solved by the third party. 


Direct flights to Vietnam

Direct flights to Vietnam arrive at three main international airports of Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and Da Nang. Visitors often take the cheaper option of an indirect flight via regional cities such as Bangkok, Singapore, Hong Kong, Kula Lumpur, Brunei… and transit at no extra cost. It is best if you can find an airline that flies in and out of both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City will allow you to fly into one city and out of the other save up some time.

  • The alternative is to fly to another Asian regional cities such as Bangkok, Singapore, Hong Kong and then either get connecting flights or travel overland to Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City.
  • From New Zealand you may flight with Air New Zealand | airnewzealand.co.nz  from Auckland and Ho Chi Minh City on a seasonal basis, operating from June to October in 2016 with the potential to expand the season in subsequent years

China, Laos and Cambodia To Vietnam

  • You can enter Vietnam overland from China, Laos or Cambodia as this way you can see more of the region than you would if you simply flew in big cities.
  • Take a look at Southern China, from Phnom Penh or Siem Reap with Cambodia Angkor Air codeshare partner Vietnam Airlines, or from Vientiane withVietnam Airlines | vietnamairlines.com or Lao Airlines | laoairlines.com.

China to Vietnam

  • The Beijing–Hanoi train enters Vietnam at Lang Son route. Other China border is also open Lao Cai with roadlink to Hanoi.
  • From Laos, six border crossings are currently open to foreigners: Lao Bao, Cau Treo, Nam Can, Na Meo, Bo Y, Tay Trang. It is possible and cheaper to use international bus services from Savannakhet and Vientiane to Hanoi, Dong Ha, Vinh, Da Nang and other destinations in Vietnam. Take direct services are recommended as regular reports of extortion continue to come in from those crossing independently.
  • From Cambodia you can travel by air-conditioned bus from Phnom Penh straight through to Ho Chi Minh City, via the Moc Bai crossing. There are two crossings in the Mekong Delta area of Vinh Xuong and Tinh Bien, which are respectively 30km north and 25km west of Chau Doc.
  • Please note you will need multiple entry valid visa to cross these borders. You may be charged with a “processing fee”, typically few dollars. Please note border gates are open from around 7am to 5pm and may close over lunch.

Pre-departure check list 

  • Travel insurance is important and you might want to check with your credit cards or other insurance you may be qualified for before you take out an insurance policy.
  • Please allow cash for lunches, dinners, drinks, souvenir and tips.
  • Valid passport is good for more than 6 months.
  • Getting a visa is easy but remember it may take sometimes as you might not be close to the Vietnamese embassy or consulate.
  • Return flight tickets
  • Confirmed tour program
  • Foreign currency (US$) and/or ATM/Visa/Master card. Bring some cash US$ 200 even though you might not need it. US$, AU$ $CA you get better exchange rate in Vietnam than here.
  • Bring a camera but you always can use your smart phone.
  • Adapter - 220V, 50Hz; 2 pin plugs – most luxury hotel will have them but it might cost few bucks to buy on ebay.
  • Bring a warm jacket for Hanoi and the North. In the South it would be warm or hot.
  • Medication for you and your partner and your kids. First-aid kit may be handy.
  • Small day-pack (for day and overnight trips)
  • Most airlines will take 20kg baggage. You may want to check with your carrier.

Visa on arrival

  • Apply for the visa through the  Embassy or Consulate of Vietnam.
  • Ensure your name and details are correct with your passport.
  • Bring a copy of the visa approval letter when you arrive in Vietnam airports. You will get a visa stamp on your passport.

Tips in Vietnam

  • Hospitality workers are expected some small tips in luxury premises. In some establishments, you may find that the tip is already included in the bill.
  • In local restaurants, tips are not expected but you may wish to leave loose change on the table. Bell man: $1-$2; Boatman: $3; Cruise crew: $3 - $5, Drivers: $2-$5, Tour guide: $5-$10
