Otao kitchen cooking school offer authentic Asian cooking and food experiences in Melbourne, Australia. Our private, corporate cooking and team building events are designed to be sociable and fun. We have three options that offer something slightly different either the Taste of Asia Cook Off, Master Class Social Cook Off or Team Cuisine and Food Challenges for numbers of 10 to 120 persons. If you’re looking for a fun private and corporate cooking, team building event, or you are looking to  entertain key clients, business networking and stakeholders with the opportunity to learn some new skills, then our corporate cooking events are perfect! Participants will learn new skills, develop confidence and creativity whilst team work and relationship building are strongly encouraged. We can also add a competitive element in a friendly environment in our Richmond purposely built kitchen.  Simplicity is the best but you can spice your event? You can add on for premium ingredients and equipment such as take home Japanese knives, Wagyu beef, specialty porks, premium crayfish, champagnes, cocktails or even photographer/videographer and hard copy photo and recipe book, take home ingredients or a food tour trip to the country you learn to cook.

TASTE OF ASIA

For an unique team building, private and corporate party, join Otao kitchen in Melbourne with a special Asian menu of your choice - Dumpling, Thai, Vietnamese, progressive dinner or chef dinner. We cater to most dietary requests.  The social cook off begins with a refreshment then your guests will work with one of our chefs in a relaxing and friendly atmosphere to prepare entree, mains and deserts. The cooking would be over an hour with plenty of foods to share around large centre kitchen complimentary with Asian beer, sparkling wine and soft drinks. The event would be ideal for team looking for something more than a meal and activity but less than a half a day or more to spend outside of work. Taste of Asia cook off is ultimate event for quick team building and lunch or early dinner.

MASTER CLASS

If you are looking for ultimate corporate team building cooking or a creative way to entertain clients, our range of carefully planned Master Class Social Cook Off could be just what you need. Our corporate master class cook off is relaxed and informal but very effective. Cooking is a natural, fun and memorable way to reward your staff or entertain relationship in a way that also encourages team bonding and networking. These are values that will go on to enrich your workplace and relationship well after the cooking has finished. After a welcome drink and quickly made up canapé by your guest to start the conversation, we will divide into small group to start cooking, under the supervision of our experienced and friendly experienced chefs. All our cooking classes round off with a feast of your guests' making and accompanied by specially selected Asian beer and sparkling wines. Few corporate events can promise such a delicious Asian treats. Happy Cooking!

TEAM CUISINE AND CHALLENGE

If you are looking forTeam Cuisine and Food Challenges' event that were different, fun, unique and most importantly, customisable for your staff or clients. Our Team Cuisine and Food Challenges might be something your team will love as not only they will learn healthy foods, cooking tips and tricks but also they can create a sense of satisfaction and achievement through some friendly and rewarding challenges. Ready, Steady, Cook! We turn up the heat for your staff and clients in this Team Cuisine and Food Challenges, but don’t worry this isn’t a hell’s kitchen…. Our friendly, seasoned chefs are here to help you through, no matter what your culinary capabilities are. There is different version you can choose from Mini Cocktail Class Competition Add On, Asian Cocktails and Canapé, Amazing Race Food Challenge, Street Food Asian Making Challenge or Corporate Team Food Truck Challenge. After a welcome drink and quickly made up canapé by your guest to start the conversation, we will divide into small group to start  to watch our professional chefs giving flavour of their repertoire for inspiration whilst also teaching you some knife handling and safety skills. You will then battle to out-cook the other teams and create best Asian dishes to put before the chefs and fellow guests. There will be a winning team!

THE DUMPLING PARTY 

For things to do in Melbourne, you can't get more immersed in food culture than the Dumplings Party. Learning to make dumplings is a true culinary escapade, both inside and outside of the Chinese, Vietnamese and Japanese  popular cultures.  Beginning  with making the perfect dough then learn how to shape  your best dumplings, get inspiration for composing your gourmet Japanese, Vietnamese and Chinese menus.

VIETNAMESE COOKING MENU

Explore Vietnamese heritage and traditional cooking with many dishes with fresh herbs, vegetables and choice of meats and seafood dishes to cook and share. Great with “pick and choose” or substitutes what each person wants to eat. Definitely choice for cooking party with dietary (gluten free, dairy free, vegan, vegetarian…) friendly, and healthy choice.

JAPANESE COOKING MENU

Unique and sophisticated, Japan is a country of binaries. It works beautifully both the traditional and ultra-modern, and hosts buzzing cities alongside stunning natural landscapes. Japanese food is notoriously nutritious, with a diet based around fresh fish, soy, fermented produce. Please note some of the Japanese dishes has ready-made produce and quite often we can’t substitute for other ingredients well - gluten, soy and fish are prominent on the menu.

THAI COOKING MENU

Great cooking party with fresh herbs, vegetables and choice of meats and seafood dishes. Most dishes will have elements i.e fresh herbs, fish sauce, shrimp paste, curry paste, coconut cream, rice, chilli spices. Though Thai cuisine is brilliantly complex tasting and known for its amazing balance of sour, sweet, bitter and salty it’s actually easy to make. Great choice for cooking party wanting to share dishes – for example large green chicken curry or spicy Thai salad!
